How to keep going
-
1
Pick a time
Tie it to something you already do, like breakfast or the bus home, so you don't have to decide every day.
-
2
Keep it small
10 to 30 minutes and one sketchbook page is plenty. The timer on each prompt helps you stop.
-
3
Don't start over
If a drawing goes wrong, keep going and fix it on the page. Finishing teaches more than erasing.
-
4
Look back
At the end of the month, put all your drawings side by side. That's the best part.
Teachers: classroom mode and printable worksheets work with the prompt of the day too.
Questions
about drawing challenges
What is a drawing challenge?
A set of prompts, usually one a day for a month, that you draw one after another. The point is the habit: drawing a little every day, even on days you don't know what to draw.
How does the monthly drawing challenge work?
Each month has a prompt for every day, each with an art challenge, and the list goes up on the 25th of the month before. They're the prompts of the day, so everyone doing the challenge draws the same prompt on the same day. Print the calendar, draw the day's prompt, and send your drawing on that day's page if you like.
What is the 30-day drawing challenge?
Thirty prompts, one a day, from quick warm-ups to bigger scenes. It doesn't follow the calendar, so you can start it any day.
Do I have to draw every day?
No. Skip a day, draw two the next, or only draw at weekends. Drawing a little and often beats waiting for the perfect day.
Can I do it with a class or a club?
Yes. Print the month for everyone, or show the prompt of the day on the projector with classroom mode. Everyone draws the same prompt, so it's easy to compare.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free, with no sign-up and no ads.
